Quick Fixes Don't Work and Ghost Hunter Hype!
If you watch TV you'll see every type of thing known to man for dealing with the Paranormal. However the only undisputed solution to these problems is Faith in God! Here are some examples of Hollywood Hype.
Ghost Hunter's- I have watched dozens of episodes of this series. Jason and Grant have really capitalized on the misery of some people, and really have made a lot of money beyond there Roto-Rooter salaries. What really disturbs me is all of the little paranormal investigation groups which have popped up in response to them and follow there sick doctrine of investigation. Now every little high school kid with a camera and a tape recorder thinks they are a paranormal investigator. What makes me most angry about there investigations is when they arrive at a home. "Hi were from TAPS were here to help." Then they kick the family out of there house and set up thousands of dollars in unnecessary equipment only to get, nothing. But tell me, do they ever come out and say "yeah, this house is haunted"? No, they don't. And the reason is because they don't know how to conduct a real investigation. They also try to "provoke" spirits by talking New Jersey trash to them. If they ever did that in a real infested house, they would probably get tossed out of a window. They never actually help anyone, they come up with all kinds of cockamamie reasons for the phenomenon. Some day Grant and Jason will wake up and it will be raining rocks in there living room then I'll get an e-mail from them.
Paranormal State- What a great show, and a great group who focus's on the proper way to conduct an investigation. They actually help people, utilize proper religious tactics and help people using all different types of resources. The only thing that needs to go is Elfie. The Pagan witch girl in the group. She is only going to bring demonic attacks upon the group and unfortunately she doesn't contribute enough to the group to be necessary. Her idiotic contributions are insane and are only going to lead to problems. I would personally like to know what actually qualifies her as an "occult specialist" other than the fact that she herself is a devil worshiping satanist? Ryan, can her.
A Haunting- Another great show, more along the lines of the documentary type, but still overall a good show and takes from some excellent cases some of which I have been involved in. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that there always has to be a happy ending. Not always so!
Popular methods for dealing with hauntings are usually portrayed on these shows and we'll go over some good examples of what not to do. First I will explain the correct way to conduct a proper investigation. When an investigative group arrives at your home, they should take extensive amounts of time to interview you and everyone involved. This is done for several reasons; the first reason is so that it can be established if everyone is on the same page. The second reason is to determine the psychological state of the family. Basically if someone is nuts or has other issues you know pretty quickly. Care should be taken to evaluate the psychological factor and religious factor. After the personal investigation is done, then it can be moved on to the residence. The family should initially be kept on the premises during the investigation. This is to establish weather or not it is PK or telepathy. Commonly referred to as poltergeist activity, this activity is not intelligent and is projected from a person. Usually pubescent girls are the most likely candidates for this type of phenomenon. Their highly explosive emotional state can project enough metaphysical energy to turn lights on or off, cause rapping's on walls, and other non intelligent phenomenon. If the activity is in any way intelligent, then poltergeist activity or PK can be ruled out quickly. Night time investigations are important as demons are most active in the hours absent of natural light. The high point of demonic activity is known as "dead time" or "the demonic witching hour" which is between 0300 hrs (3:00 am) and 0400 hrs (4:00am). This is the way the demonic mock the death of Christ which is commonly accepted as 3:00 PM. The number 3 always stands out in the study of demonology because it represents the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is something that most protestants do not accept. To a "born again" everything is Jesus, but Jesus only makes up one third of the Holy Trinity. The Father (God), The Son (Jesus), and The Holy Spirit (Christians) are the Holy Trinity. You should never be asked to leave your home unattended with a bunch of strangers with cameras running around. A good investigative team should conduct several on site investigations. They should then suggest a course of action, which coincides with there own wishes. Finally action should be taken, what ever it may be. Lastly and most importantly, the investigators should never abandon you. Even after your case is closed they should continue to help you and counsel you about your case. They should also liaison for you with the clergy. NEVER FALL INTO THE TAPS TRAP! Never sign any release forms allowing your case to be televised, and never pay an investigator or team any up front money. If they ask to be reimbursed for gas, or lodging depending on the case, that is reasonable. But never get charged for help.

Sage Smudging- Burning sage or smudging sticks is really a bunch of crap. Everyone I have spoken to who have tried this, has found that it does not work. Some times, it makes the spirits go away for a week or two. However normally it doesn't work long term.
Offering an Oracle- Witches of Santeria will sometimes advise people to crack an egg in a glass, then fill the glass half way with tequila however this only grants acceptance to the demon and allows them to begin an oppression.
Mediums, and Full Trance Mediums- People such as Sylvia Browne and other meduims are normally more trouble than they are worth. They will almost always make the situations worse. I have personally played damage control to some of Sylvia Browne's victims. Don't buy into this it is Satanism.
Oujia Boards- These are an Oracle which are responsible for dozens of infestations world wide every year. Please do not try to use these to contact spirits. If you do, NEVER BURN A OUJIA BOARD.
